Art and Inspiration
Lately, I’ve been working with some wonderful artists to bring Of Flame and Fern to life visually. It’s been a quiet but meaningful process—seeing these characters and their world take shape outside of words. Some of the artwork is already finished, and each piece has surprised me in the best way. Details I hadn’t even considered have emerged through an artist’s eye, deepening my own understanding of the story.
More pieces are on the way, and I find myself thinking a lot about how character and setting translate into visual form. What does a particular tilt of the head reveal about someone’s guarded heart? How does light or colour capture the shifting moods of a place? Seeing the answers to these questions appear in an illustration is a kind of quiet magic.
I’m looking forward to sharing more as the artwork unfolds. In the meantime, I’d love to know—which moments or characters from Of Flame and Fern have stayed with you? Which ones would you like to see brought to life?
